Energy Audits and Legislation Compliance for Existing Buildings

Within the Sustainable Energy Division, there is a specialist section focusing on advanced analysis of the energy consumption of existing building’s and the associated carbon emissions. Aside from Government legislation, the business case for analysing and reducing energy consumption is apparent in terms of direct cost saving, reduced carbon emissions, improved comfort levels and improved productivity.

Advice on energy efficiency & carbon reduction

CarbonPlan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on energy efficiency advice and measures that follow the energy hierarchy of being lean, clean and green. Whether the project is for legislative requirements such as Display Energy Certificates (DEC) or scoping energy consumption studies; CarbonPlan can deliver both desktop and on-site audits to determine energy consumption and identify the potential for financial savings and reducing the environmental impact of building(s). The advice delivered will prioritise the most sensible, effective and rewarding measures for the project.

Low and Zero Carbon technology feasibility

Feasibility advice for the implementation of Low and Zero Carbon technologies can be delivered whether the purpose is conservation of energy, increased efficiency or reduced impact. CarbonPlan can help in the navigation of regulatory requirements and capitalise on the availability of funding mechanisms such as the Feed in Tariff (FiT) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to ensure that only the most financially beneficial and technically sound strategies and measures are implemented.

Display Energy Certificates (DEC)

Display Energy Certificates have been mandatory for all public buildings over 1,000m2 since their introduction in October 2008. DEC were introduced to raise public awareness of energy use and to inform visitors about the energy use of a building. DEC provide an energy rating of the building from A to G, where A is very efficient and G is the least efficient and are based on the energy used by the building over 12 months. A DEC is valid for one year, must be renewed annually and must be accompanied by an Advisory Report (AR). CarbonPlan has a dedicated team that delivers a proactive service that offers more than just the mandatory DEC and AR but additional advice that offers further measures to improve the performance of the building.

Scoping studies

CarbonPlan offers a comprehensive range of both on and off site energy audits which enable the service to be tailored to the projects need. Our services extend to appraisals of residential, commercial and non-domestic buildings to highlight energy efficiency measures and renewable feasibility that warrant further exploration. CarbonPlan works with clients in the private and public sector conducting scoping studies with portfolios of multi-use buildings to qualify the potential for energy, carbon and financial savings.
