The regeneration of a HCA owned hospital site on the banks of the River Thames for which CarbonPlan provided planning support, sustainability and energy strategies and assessments for the 357 luxury home site.
The development including refurbished houses and apartments within the retained Grade II hospital buildings, and new homes in part of the surrounding grounds to support the restoration of the listed buildings. In addition a good mix of commercial, community and leisure facilities as well as the landscaped grounds will be accessible to the wider public.
Working closely with the developer, planning acceptance was obtained for the development despite several challenging planning conditions to discharge
The new homes were designed and certified to achieve Sustainable Homes Code level 4 rating for the new dwellings & EcoHomes for the refurbished units with 30 per cent being affordable, offering a mix of social rented and shared-ownership schemes.
This development will provide much needed housing for the district including 106 affordable homes for people in housing need.
The scheme strikes a good balance as local residents will have use of the beautiful grounds and facilities such as the hall, cricket pitch and pavilion.
This is a very positive development, achieving a good balance between housing, heritage and regeneration
